HERRINGTON, Jacob, a Representative from Crawford, Erie, Mercer, Venango and Warren Counties; born, February 6, 1784 in York County, Pa.; printer and publisher, Mercer Western Press (1811-1827); elected, coroner, Mercer County (1812); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1813-1814, 1814-1815, 1815-1816, 1816-1817, 1818-1819 and 1820-1821 terms; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1817); elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1821-1825); unsuccessful campaign, United States Congress (1826); reelected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1834-1835 term; proprietor, general store; died, February 26, 1841 in Geneva, Kane County, Illinois; interred, West Side Cemetery, Geneva, Kane County, Illinois.
