KERLIN, John, a Representative from Delaware County; born, 1793 in Upper Chichester, Delaware County, Pa.; studied law, William Graham; lawyer (1814-1847); elected as a Federalist to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1818-1819 and 1819-1820 terms; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1821); elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1825-1832); president, Bank of Delaware County (1834-1841); director, Delaware Mutual Safety Insurance Company (1837); chief surveyor, Reading Railroad Company (1841); died, May 19, 1847 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, Chester Rural Cemetery, Chester, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.
