ESTEP, Rev. James, a Representative from Westmoreland County; born, October 9, 1782 in Washington County, Pa.; physician; clergyman; reverend, Salem Baptist Church (1805-1814); elected, commissioner, Westmoreland County (1812); farmer; elected, trustee, Greenburg Academy (1813, 1817); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1819-1820 and 1820-1821 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1821); unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1822); reverend, Forks of Yough Baptist Church (1828); reverend, Peter’s Creek Baptist Church (1838-1857); reverend, Baptist Church at Elizabeth (1842); died, February 26, 1861 in Peters Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania; interred, Peters Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Bethel Park, Allegheny County.
