SEMANOFF, Joseph, a Representative from Carbon and Luzerne Counties; born in Coaldale, Schuylkill County, Pa., August 16, 1916; graduated, Nesquehoning High School, 1934; served, 101st Airborne Division, United States Army (World War II; Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman badge, double Presidential Unit citations and four Battle Stars recipient); grocer; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1967 term and served 3 more consecutive terms; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House in the 1974 General election; died, March 22, 1981 in Lehighton, Carbon County, Pennsylvania; interred, Lehighton Cemetery, Lehighton, Carbon County, Pennsylvania.
