ENGLEHART, Harry Augustine, Jr., a Representative from Cambria and Somerset Counties; born in Ebensburg, Cambria County, Pa., August 21, 1923; graduated, Ebensburg-Cambria High School; B.S., United States Naval Academy, 1944; LL.B., Yale Law School, 1951; lieutenant, "U.S.S. McGowan" (1944-1945), United States Navy (1944-1946, World War II and Korean War, 1951-1953); attorney; chair, Ebensburg Planning Commission; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1965 term and served 6 more consecutive terms; elected, Majority Caucus Chair (1969-1972, 1975-1978); elected, Minority Policy Committee Chair (1973-1974); appointed, Joint State Government Commission (1969-1978); co-chair, Speaker's Committee on Tax Reform (1970); appointed, Special Committee to Study the Public Employee Relations Act (of 1970) (1973); unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the house (1978); died, May 14, 1982 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania; interred, Holy Name Cemetery, Ebensburg, Cambria County, Pennsylvania.
