HAYS, James, a Representative from Northampton, Lehigh, Pike and Wayne Counties; born, circa 1764; unsuccessful campaign, sheriff, Northampton County (1808); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1813-1814 term; reelected to the House as a Democrat for the 1818-1819 and 1819-1820 terms; died, March 1, 1829 in Easton, Northampton County, Pennsylvania; interred, Easton Cemetery, Easton, Northampton County, Pennsylvania.
