BAILY, Dr. Abraham, a Representative from Chester County; born, September 5, 1760 in West Bradford Township, Chester County, Pa.; studied medicine, Dr. Nicholas Way; attended, medical school, Philadelphia; captain, New Jersey Militia (1794, Whiskey Rebellion); surgeon, privateer vessel; physician; owner, iron business (1789-1794); merchant; elected as a Federalist to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1808-1809 term; unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1809, 1810, 1811, 1813); reelected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1812-1813 term; elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1814-1818); reelected to the House for the 1819-1820 term; appointed, justice of the peace (1821-1825); died, August 13, 1825 in West Bradford Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania; interred, Bradford Friends Burying Ground, West Bradford Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania.
