KELTON, James, Jr., a Representative from Chester County; born, 1776 in London Grove, Chester County, Pa.; elected, sheriff, Chester County (1801-1803); unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1804); elected as a Quid to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1805-1806, 1806-1807 and 1807-1808 terms; reelected to the House as a Federalist for the 1808-1809 term; unsuccessful campaign, sheriff, Chester County (1810); unsuccessful campaign, auditor, Chester County (1812); board, National Bank of Chester County (1814-1818); unsuccessful campaign, United States Congress (1818); reelected to the House for the 1819-1820 and 1820-1821 terms; elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1821-1826); postmaster, United States Postal Service, West Grove (1828-1842); died, November 25, 1844 in New London Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania; interred, New London Presbyterian Church Cemetery, New London Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania.
