UHLER, John, a Representative from Lebanon County; born, February 26, 1779 in Lebanon, Lancaster County (now Lebanon County) Pa.; quartermaster, 2nd Regiment, First Brigade, Pennsylvania Militia (1812, War of 1812); farmer; elected as a Federalist to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1817-1818 term; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1818, 1837); reelected to the House as a Democrat for the 1819-1820 term; reelected to the House as an Old-School Federalist for the 1820-1821; elected, council, Lebanon (1821); unsuccessful campaign, coroner, Lebanon County (1822); unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania State Senate (1823); appointed, register and clerk of Orphan’s Court, Lebanon County (1833-1836); died, October 21, 1848 in Lebanon, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania; interred, Mount Lebanon Cemetery, Lebanon, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania.
