CALDWELL, James A., a Representative from Lancaster County; born, 1796 in Pennsylvania; elected, director of the poor, Lancaster County (1811-1814); unsuccessful campaign, sheriff, Lancaster County (1815); elected as Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1819-1820, 1828-1829 and 1829-1830 terms; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1821, 1831, 1832); elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1836-1840); died, July 29, 1845 in Fulton Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania; interred, Boyd Cemetery, Peach Bottom, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
