EMLEN, George, Representative from Philadelphia City; born, 1784 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pa.; lawyer (1808-1850); elected as a Federalist to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1818-1819, 1820-1821, 1821-1822, 1827-1828 and 1829-1830 terms; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1819, 1840); elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1823-1827); unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the Senate (1826); died, August 27, 1850 in Pennsylvania; interred, Laurel Hill Cometary, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.
