MILLER, William, a Representative from Adams and York Counties; born, May 25, 1755 in Cecil County, Md.; captain, 6th Company, 5th Battalion, Continental Army (1776-1781, Revolutionary War); elected as a Federalist to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1795-1796 and 1796-1797 terms; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1797, 1799, 1820); unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania State Senate (1800, 1801, 1809, 1811, 1817); reelected to the House for the 1802-1803, 1803-1804, 1804-1805 terms; elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1805-1809); reelected to the House for the 1813-1814, 1814-1815, 1815-1816 and 1819-1820 terms; elected, trustee, Gettysburg Academy (1816-1817); died, June 3, 1831 in Gettysburg, Adams County, Pennsylvania; interred, Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg, Adams County, Pennsylvania.
