PURDON, John, a Representative of Philadelphia City; born, 1784 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania County, Pa.; graduated, College of New Jersey (now Princeton University), 1802; lawyer (1806-1835); elected, common council, Philadelphia (1816); elected as a Federalist to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1817-1818 and 1818-1819 terms; secretary, State Federal Republican Convention (1826); died October 3, 1835 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, Laurel Hill Cemetery, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.
