HILL, John, a Representative from Westmoreland County; born, circa 1785; major, Pennsylvania Militia (War of 1812); miller; farmer; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1834-1835, 1835-1836, 1836-1837, 1837-1839 and 1838-1839 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1839); elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1843-1845); postmaster, United States Postal Service, Hills View, Pa. (1848-1849); died, August 22, 1856 in Fairfield Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania; interred, Fort Palmer Cemetery, Fairfield Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.
