GILLELAND, James C., a Representative from Allegheny and Butler Counties; born, 1785 in Pennsylvania; owner and editor, Pittsburgh Mercury (1811-1812); unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1819, 1820, 1822); elected in a Special Election to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Democrat, January 9, 1821; Sworn-In, January 16, 1821 to serve the remaining 1820-1821 term; reelected to the House for the 1821-1822 and 1824-1825 term; unsuccessful campaign, coroner, Butler County (1824); editor, Pittsburgh Times (1834-1836); died, 1836 in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania; interred, Beulah Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
