McDOWELL, William Smith, a Representative from Franklin County; born, October 20, 1776 in Franklin County, Pa.; corporal, Capt. Bard’s Company, Pennsylvania Militia (1814, War of 1812); farmer; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in a Special Election, December 25, 1932; Sworn-In, January 3, 1833 to serve the remaining 1832-1833 term; reelected to the House for the 1833-1834 term; died while in office, January 23, 1834 in Franklin County, Pennsylvania; interred, Spring Grove Cemetery, Lemasters, Franklin County, Pennsylvania.
