JONES, Bela, a Representative from Susquehanna County; born, July 1, 1790 in Colchester, New London County, Ct.; aide-de-camp, 2nd Brigade, 8th Division, Pennsylvania Militia (1821-1822); farmer; clerk, Montrose (1816); owner, wool carding mill; unsuccessful campaign, auditor, Susquehanna County (1817); teacher, Montrose Academy (1818-1819); enumerator, United States Census, Susquehanna County (1820); elected, auditor, Susquehanna County (1822); innkeeper; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1833-1834 and 1835-1836 terms; postmaster, United States Postal Service, Lawsville Center (1850); died, 1880 in Montrose, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania; interred, Montrose Cemetery, Montrose, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania.
