BACHMAN, William Thomas, a Representative from Luzerne County; born in Eckley, Luzerne County, Pa., January 9, 1908; attended, Mining and Mechanical Institute; private, 1st Class, Second Armored Division, United States Army (1943-1945, World War II: four Bronze Battle Stars and Purple Heart recipient); truant officer, Foster Township School District; revenue agent, Bureau of Institutional Collections, Hazelton State Hospital, Pennsylvania Department of Revenue (1937-1960); Democratic Committeeman (25 years); treasurer, First Legislative District, Luzerne County Democratic Committee (4 years); secretary, Luzerne County Democratic Committee; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1961 term and served 4 more consecutive terms; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1970); died, May 12, 1993 in Freeland, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania; interred, Calvary Cemetery, Drums, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.
