APPLETON, William M., a Representative from Allegheny County; born in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pa., August 23, 1920; graduated, Allegheny High School; served, 331st Infantry, 83rd Infantry Division Headquarters, United States Army (1942-1945, World War II); president and founder, National Handicapped Industries; member, Zoning Board of Adjustment, McCandless Township; elected as Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1964; reelected to serve 2 more  consecutive terms; not a successful candidate for reelection to the House (1970); broker, Appleton Realty Company; died, October 6, 2001; interred, Allegheny County Memorial Park, Pittsburgh, Alleghany County, Pennsylvania
