STEWART, Thomas, a Representative from Bucks County; born, 1755; private, New Britain Company, Pennsylvania Militia (1777, Revolutionary War); commissioner, Doylestown Academy (1804-1806); unsuccessful campaign, commissioner, Bucks County (1806); unsuccessful campaign, director of the poor, Bucks County (1807); elected, commissioner, Bucks County (1814); elected, treasurer, Bucks County (1818); attorney (1823-1844); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1818-1819 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House; died, August 8, 1844 in Doylestown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania; interred, Doylestown, Doylestown Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Doylestown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
