WITHEROW, Samuel, a Representative from Adams County; born, June 25, 1768 in York County (now Adams County), Pa.; private, captain Thomas Bard’s Company, Pennsylvania Militia (1814, War of 1812); farmer; elected, commissioner, Adams County (1809-1810); elected, trustee, Gettysburg Academy (1812); elected as a Federalist to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1816-1817, 1817-1818 and 1818-1819 terms; died, January 27, 1833 in Hamiltonban Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania; interred, Lower Marsh Creek Presbyterian Cemetery, Gettysburg, Adams County, Pennsylvania.
