KERNAGHAN, Mae W., a Representative from Delaware County; born, April 23, 1901 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pa.; treasurer and president, Yeadon Public Library; elected, alternate delegate, Republican National Convention (1944); member, Republican State Committee; vice chair, Delaware County Republican Committee; secretary and public relations director, Salvation Army Fundraising Office, Delaware County (1944-1955);elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1956 and served 6 consecutive terms thereafter; elected, Majority Caucus Chair (1967-1968); elected, Minority Caucus Chair (1969-1970); appointed, Joint State Government Commission (1967-1970); not a candidate for reelection to the House (1970); died, September 29, 1980 in Lansdowne, Delaware County, Pennsylvania; interred, Fernwood Cemetery and Mausoleum, Fernwood, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.
