BURNS, James, Jr., a Representative from Mifflin County; born, July 4, 1802 in Pennsylvania; farmer; agent, Pioneer Line of Packets and Stages; contractor, canal locks and railroad tunnels; appointed, treasurer, Mifflin County (1835-1837, 1841); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1845 term; elected, Pennsylvania Canal Commission (1845-1849); president, Mifflin County National Bank; died, October 26, 1879 in Lewistown, Mifflin County, Pennsylvania; interred, Saint Marks Cemetery, Lewistown, Mifflin County, Pennsylvania.
