JONES, Edmund, a Representative from Delaware County; born in Chester, Delaware County, Pa., April 15, 1918; graduated, Swarthmore High School, 1935; B.A. Swarthmore College, 1939; LL.D., University of Pennsylvania Law School, 1942; captain, JAG Office, Germany, United States Army (1942-1946, World War II); attorney; established, The Industrial Savings and Loan Association; established, First Federa Savings & Loan Association of Chester; elected, mayor, Swarthmore (1966-1971); chair, Swarthmore Republican Committee; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in a Special Election, May 18, 1971; Sworn-In, June 15, 1971 to serve the remaining 1971 term; reelected to the House in 1972; unsuccessful cmpaign for reelection to the House (1974); elected, Swarthmore Borough Authority (1985-1989; chair, 1989); elected, Delaware County Council (1987-1988); chair, Delaware County Strategic Planning Commission (1988-1989); board member, Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (1989-1996); counsel, Swarthmore Borough Authority; died, September 14, 2019 in Ridley Park, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.
