WHARTON, Henry Swoope, a Representative from Huntingdon, Juniata and Mifflin Counties; born, May 2, 1833 in Huntingdon, Huntingdon County, Pa.; A.B., Lafayette College, 1855; ticket and freight agent, Pennsylvania Railroad (1857-1862); engaged, manufacturing (1862-1867); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1867 and 1868 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1869 term; proprietor, hardware business (1869-1889); engaged, insurance business (1889-1899); died, February 27, 1911 in Ryde, Mifflin County, Pennsylvania; interred, Riverview Cemetery, Huntingdon, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania.
