DUMAS, Aljia, a Representative from Philadelphia County; born, October 28, 1929 in Alabama; served, United States Merchant Marines (1949-1959); private detective; clerk, Philadelphia Registration Commission; inspector, Pennsylvania State Highway Department; member, 46th Ward Democratic Committee; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives’ 190th District by Special Election, April 23, 1968 to serve the remaining 1967 term; Sworn-In, May 27, 1968; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House for the 1969 term; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives’ 188th District by Special Election, April 27, 1976 to serve the remaining 1975 term; Sworn-In, May 10, 1976 and reelected as a Democrat in 1976 and 1978; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1980).
