Coughlin High School, 1980; B.A., Pitzer College of the Claremont Colleges, 1984; Intern, United States Congressman James Nelligan (1982); Intern, United States Congressman Paul Kanjorski (1985); administrative assistant, United States Congressman Frank J. Guarini (1985-1989); president and owner, Portable Space (1990-2000); member, Butler Township Democratic Committee (1992-1993); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1997 term and served 6 consecutive terms thereafter; appointed, Deputy Whip (2003-2004); elected, Majority Policy Committee Chairman (2007-2008); elected, Majority Leader (2009-2010); appointed, co-chair, Select Committee on Pharmaceuticals (2000); appointed, Select Committee on Toll Roads (2004-2005); appointed, Select Committee on Influenza Vaccine (2006); appointed, Joint State Government Commission (2009-2010); unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (2010, 2020).
