KNEPPER, James Wallace, Jr., a Representative from Allegheny County; born in Bellefonte, Centre County, Pa., May 12, 1932; graduated, Carnegie High School; B.S., Carnegie Institute of Technology, 1957; first lieutenant, 82nd Airborne Division, senior parachutist, United States Army Paratroops (1954-1957); newspaper publisher; president, Knepper Press Corporation; member and president, Carlynton School Board; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1970; reelected to serve 4 more consecutive terms; appointed, Select Committee to Review Insurance Regulations (1974); not a candidate for reelection to the House (1980); unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania State Auditor General (1980); executive director, Pennsylvania Human Resource Committee (1983-1984); Secretary, Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry (1984-1987); died, May 30, 2016 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania; interred, Union Dale Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
