RAPPAPORT, Samuel, a Representative from Philadelphia County; born Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pa., August 25, 1932; graduated, Central High School; A.B., Temple University, 1954; LL.B., Columbia University Law School, 1957; served, 3rd Infantry Division, United States Army (1957-1959); attorney; member, 5th Ward Democratic Committee; elected, delegate, Pennsylvania Constitutional Convention (1967-1968); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1971 term and served 6 consecutive terms thereafter; appointed, co-chair, House Select Committee to Investigate SEPTA (1979); appointed, Select Committee on Three Mile Island (1979); appointed, board, State Employees’ Retirement System (1983-1984); unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House for the 1985 term; leader, 5th Ward Democratic Executive Committee (1991-2006); died, February 8, 2016 in Voorhees Township, Camden County, New Jersey; interred, Haym Salomon Memorial Park, Frazer, Chester County, Pennsylvania.
