STAUFFER, John, a Representative from Chester County; born in Phoenixville, Chester County, Pa., May 28, 1925; graduated, Phoenixville High School; department store consultant; elected, council, Phoenixville (1959-1964: president, 1962-1964); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1965, 1967 and 1969 terms; resigned from the House, November 17, 1970; elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1971-1988); appointed, Local Government Commission (1973-1982; chair, 1975-1976); elected, Senate Republican Leader (1985-1988); at-large member, Republican State Committee (1977-1978); died, October 26, 2019 in Lancaster, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania; interred, Greed Tree Cemetery, Oaks, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
