WILT, Roy W., a Representative from Mercer County; born in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pa., July 4, 1935; graduated, West View North Hills High School; B.A., Thiel College, 1959; M.A., Michigan State University, 1967; served, United States Army Reserves and Pennsylvania National Guard (1960-1966); Dean of Men, Thiel College; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1968; reelected and served for 6 consecutive terms thereafter; resigned from the House, April 21, 1981; elected in a Special Election, Pennsylvania State Senate (March 31, 1981-1990); elected, Majority Caucus Secretary (1989-1990); appointed, Joint Legislative Air and Water Pollution Control and Conservation Committee (1981-1988); appointed, board, Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) (1981-1990); not a candidate for reelection, State Senate (1990); appointed, State Ethics Commission (1993-1998); appointed, chair, Pennsylvania Harness Racing Commission (2004-present).
