DeVERTER, Walter F., a Representative from Centre, Juniata, Mifflin and Perry Counties; born in Hershey, Dauphin County, Pa., August 25, 1934; attended, Central Pennsylvania Business College; attended, Williamsport Technical Institute; attended, George Washington University; served, United States Marine Corps (1953-1956); accountant (8 years); elected, register of wills and recorder of deeds, Mifflin County (1965-1973); director, Young Republicans of Mifflin County; member, Mifflin County Republican Committee; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1973 term and served 7 consecutive terms thereafter; appointed, Special Investigative Lottery Task Fund Force (1984); not a candidate for reelection to the House (1988); died, April 7, 2017 in Camp Hill, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania; interred, Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church columbarium, Camp Hill, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania.
