RUDY, Ruth C., a Representative from Centre and Mifflin Counties; born in Millheim, Centre County, Pa., January 3, 1938; graduated, Penn Valley Area High School, 1955; radiological studies certificate, Carnegie Institute, 1956; attended, The Pennsylvania State University, 1969-1971; x-ray technician; legislative director, Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture (1972-1975); elected, prothonotary and clerk of courts, Centre County (1976-1983); member, Democratic National Committee (28 years); elected, delegate, Democratic National Convention (1980); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1982 and served 6 more consecutive terms; appointed, Select Committee to Investigate the Problem of Teenage Pregnancies and Parenting in Pennsylvania (1986); appointed, Select Committee to Study Autism in the Commonwealth (1988); appointed, Commission for Women (1989-1990); not a candidate for reelection to the House (1996); unsuccessful campaign, United States Congress (1996); auditor, Potter Township (6 years); superdelegate, 2008 Presidential Election; community columnist, The Centre Daily Times.
