RUTHERFORD, Eugene Sylvester, a Representative from Lancaster County; born in Altoona, Blair County, Pa., August 9, 1917; graduated, Altoona High School; B.S., Millersville State College (now Millersville University of Pennsylvania); served, United States Army (1941-1945, World War II); electrical contractor and dealer; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1960, 1962 and 1966; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1964, 1968, 1970, 1972); director, Bureau of Research and Statistics, Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry (1964-1965); appointed, director, Pennsylvania Vietnam Veterans Bonus Commission (1969-1972); died, September 2, 1980 in Lancaster, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania; interred, Greenwood Cemetery, Lancaster, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
