MARKLEY, Marian Evelyn, a Representative from Lehigh County; born in Treichlers, Lehigh County, Pa., April 8, 1906; graduated, Northampton High School; honorary doctorate of law, Cedar Crest College, 1966; office manager; member, Lehigh County Council of Republican Women; secretary, Pennsylvania State Representative Franklin H. Lichtenwalter (1943-1947); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1950 and served 8 more consecutive terms; elected, Minority Caucus Secretary (1959-1962, 1965-1966); elected, Majority Caucus Secretary (1963-1964); appointed, chair, Joint State Government Commission (1967-1968); not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1969 term; elected, delegate, Pennsylvania Constitutional Convention (1967-1968); elected, board of trustees, Cedar Crest College; died, January 27, 1986 in Allentown, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania; interred, Greenwood Cemetery, Allentown, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania.
