GAMBLE, John Armstrong, a Representative from Lycoming, McKean and Potter Counties; born, March 4, 1799 in Centre County (now Clinton County), Pa.; farmer; merchant; assistant surveyor, Lycoming County (1824); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1834-1835 and 1835-1836 terms; elected, delegate, Pennsylvania Constitutional Convention (1837-1838); appointed, Pennsylvania Canal Commissioner (1849); owner, John A. Gamble and Brother; owner, banking house, Gambles, Humes, and Whites; died, February 6, 1878 in Jersey Shore, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania; interred, Jersey Shore Cemetery, Jersey Shore, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.
