McMEENS, John, a Representative from Bradford, Lycoming, McKean, Tioga and Potter Counties; born, circa 1776; elected, commissioner, Lycoming County (1808); appointed, Commissioner for the Improvement of the Susquehanna River (1809-1827); unsuccessful campaign, sheriff, Lycoming County (1813); elected as a Democratic-Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1814-1815 term; reelected to the House as a Democrat for the 1817-1818 and 1818-1819 terms; elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1819-1823); appointed, justice of the peace; died, June 12, 1830 in Lycoming County, Pennsylvania; interred, Arch Street Cemetery, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.
