LARDNER, Lynford, a Representative from Philadelphia County; born, June 12, 1792 in Philadelphia County, Pa.; B.A., University of Pennsylvania, 1811; honorary master of arts, University of Pennsylvania; captain, First City Troop, Pennsylvania Militia (1812-1834; War of 1812); cashier; merchant; elected as a Federalist to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1820-1821 term; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1821, 1822, 1827); elected, school board, Oxford Township, Philadelphia County (1825-1827); manager, Frankford and Bristol Turnpike Road (1829-1834); reelected to the House as a Democrat for the 1832-1833 term; died, June 22, 1834 in Oxford Township (now Philadelphia), Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, Trinity Oxford Episcopal Churchyard, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.
