HARPER, Francis Jacob, a Representative from Philadelphia County; born, March 5, 1800 in Frankford (now Philadelphia), Philadelphia County, Pa.; elected, school director, Oxford Township (now Philadelphia) (1831-1832); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1832-1833 and 1833-1834 term; elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1834-1836); elected, burgess, Frankford (now Philadelphia) (1835-1836); elected, United States Congress (1837); died prior to taking the oath of Congress, March 18, 1837 in Frankford, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, Presbyterian Church of Frankford Cemetery, Frankford, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; removed to the Congressional Cemetery, Washington, District of Columbia.
