WESTBROOK, John, a Representative from Northampton, Pike and Wayne Counties; born, January 9, 1789 in Sussex County, NJ; colonel, Pennsylvania Militia (War of 1812); engaged, lumber business; unsuccessful campaign, sheriff, Pike County (1814); elected, sheriff, Pike County (1817-1820); unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1820); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1832-1833 and 1833-1834 terms; president, Pike County Democratic Committee (1835-1846); elected, United States Congress (1841-1843); farmer; died, October 8, 1852 in Dingmans Ferry, Pike County, Pennsylvania; interred, Laurel Hill Cemetery, Milford, Pike County, Pennsylvania.
