HACKNEY, Joseph H., a Representative from Crawford, Erie, Mercer, Venango and Warren Counties; born, June 8, 1763 in Little Falls, Herkimer County, NY; served, 2nd Artillery Regiment, 2nd Company, New York Militia (1783-1785, Revolutionary War); served, Bradford’s Company, 1st Regiment, United States Army (1790, Northwest Indian Wars/Ohio Indian Wars); elected, brigade inspector, 137th Regiment, Crawford County, Pennsylvania Militia (1807); merchant (1790-1817); owner, saw mill; appointed, commissioner, Warren County (1800-1802, 1811-1817); elected as a Federalist to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1818-1819 term; appointed, associate judge, Warren County (1819-1831); died, May 20, 1832 in Warren, Warren County, Pennsylvania; interred, Oakland Cemetery, Pleasant Township, Warren County, Pennsylvania.
