BEYER, Karen D., a Representative from Lehigh and Northampton Counties; born in Jeannette, Westmoreland County, Pa., June 15, 1962; graduated, Hempfield Area Senior High School, 1980; A.A., liberal arts, Sinclair Community College, 1988; B.A., government, College of William and Mary, 1991; served, United States Air Force (1980-1984); staff writer, The Morning Call; correspondent, The Patriot News; member, Northampton County Republican Committee; legislative aide, Pennsylvania State Representative Doug Reichley (2003-2005); elected, board president, Saucon Valley School (2003-2005); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in a Special Election, July 19, 2005 to serve the remaining 2005 term; Sworn-In, August 2, 2005 and reelected to 2 more consecutive terms; appointed, advisory board member, Pennsylvania’s Tuition Account Program; appointed, Select Committee on Minority, Women, and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Inclusion (2009); unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (2010).
