COWDEN, Matthew Benjamin, a Representative from Dauphin County; born, June 25, 1786 in Dauphin County, Pa.; farmer; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1834-1835 term; appointed, associate judge, Dauphin County (1848); died, January 15, 1862 in Lower Paxton Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania; died, Paxton Presbyterian Churchyard, Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.
