SMITH, Dr. Thomas Lacy, Sr., a Representative from Chester County; born, March 23, 1805 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pa.; M.D., University of Pennsylvania, 1825; physician; surgeon, merchant vessel; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1833-1834 term; appointed, Canal and Road toll collector, Columbia, Pa. (1834); unsuccessful campaign, Indiana State Senate (1842); owner and editor, Louisville Weekly Democrat (1845-1848); lawyer; judge, Supreme Court, Indiana (1847-1853); died, January 23, 1875 in New Albany, Floyd County, Indiana; interred, Fairview Cemetery, New Albany, Floyd County, Indiana.
