WORTHINGTON, Dr. Wilmer, a Representative from Chester County; born, January 22, 1804 in West Goshen, Chester County, Pa.; attended, West Chester Academy (now West Chester University of Pennsylvania); studied medicine, Dr. William Darlington; M.D., University of Pennsylvania, 1825; physician (1825-1865); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1833-1834 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1834); appointed, physician, Lazaretto Hospital (1839-1841); editor, Medical Reporter (1863-1866); elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1863-1869); elected, Speaker of the Senate (1869); trustee, West Chester Academy; trustee, West Chester County Academy of Natural Sciences; director, Bank of Chester County; director, West Chester and Philadelphia Railway Company; died, September 11, 1873 in West Chester, Chester County, Pennsylvania; interred, Oaklands Cemetery, West Goshen Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania.
