EVANS, Joshua, Jr., a Representative from Chester County; born, January 20, 1777 in Paoli, Chester County, Pa.; brigadier general, Pennsylvania Militia (War of 1812); proprietor, Paoli Tavern and hotel; unsuccessful campaign, auditor, Chester County (1814); unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1818, 1819, 1821, 1824); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1820-1821 term; postmaster, United States Postal Service, Paoli (1826-1830); elected, United States Congress (1829-1833); farmer; president, school board, Tredyffrin Township (1836-1840); died, October 2, 1846 in Paoli, Chester County, Pennsylvania; interred, Great Valley Baptist Church Cemetery, Devon, Chester County, Pennsylvania.
