HOUSTON, Samuel, a Representative from Armstrong, Indiana and Jefferson Counties; born, 1789 in Ireland; merchant; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1817-1818 and 1818-1819 terms; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1820); postmaster, United States Postal Service, Kittanning (1825-1829); died, July 17, 1868 in Kittanning, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania; interred, Kittanning Cemetery, Kittanning, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania.
