STROHM, John, a Representative from Lancaster County; born, October 16, 1793 in Little Britain (now Fulton) Township, Lancaster County, Pa.; teacher; farmer; elected as an Anti-Mason to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1831-1832, 1832-1833 and 1833-1834 terms; elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1835-1842); Speaker of the Senate (1842); elected, United States Congress (1845-1849); elected, delegate, Whig National Convention (1848, 1852); elected, justice of the peace, New Providence (1859-1879); elected, delegate, Republican State Convention (1869); died, December 12, 1884 in Lancaster, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania; interred, Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery, Lancaster, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
