MACLAY, Robert Plunket, a Representative from Union County; born, April 19, 1799 in Lewisburg, Union County, Pa.; attended, Academy at Bedford; farmer; elected as an Anti-Mason to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1833-1834 term; unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania State Senate (1834); appointed, prothonotary, Union County (1836-1839); elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1838-1842); appointed, associate judge, Clarion County (1848-1853); engaged, construction of St. Louis, Missouri Iron Mountain and Southern Railway (1854-1857); died, August 16, 1884 in Kishacoquillas, Mifflin County, Pennsylvania; interred, Church Hill Cemetery, Reedsville, Mifflin County, Pennsylvania.
