MORRIS, Samuel Wells, a Representative from Bradford and Tioga Counties; born, September 1, 1786 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pa.; attended, Princeton College; lawyer; postmaster, United States Postal Service, Wellsboro (1808-1810); elected, treasurer, Tioga County (1808-1809); elected, commissioner, Tioga County (1811-1812); appointed, associate judge, Tioga County (1813-1832); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1832-1833, 1833-1834 and 1834-1835 terms; elected, United States Congress (1837-1841); died, May 25, 1847 in Wellsboro, Tioga County, Pennsylvania; interred, Wellsboro Cemetery, Wellsboro, Tioga County, Pennsylvania.
